Warrior Chocolate PuddingI attended a Cacao and Kundalini Yoga class yesterday and I am literally on cloud nine after tasting the beautifully bitter, dark cacao with a touch of cinnamon and my favorite spice, cayenne, followed by an enlightening practice. The drink reminded me of my visit to Kakawa in Santa Fe and their dark chocolate, spicy, vegan elixirs. Their Rose Almond was my favorite. I immediately came home from the workshop and ordered some.

We learned that cacao was used by the Aztecs and Mayans, civilizations I am completely fascinated by, as their drink of choice before going into battle. Cacao is a potent heart opener, causing blood to flow through our bodies, releasing endorphins and providing many antioxidants. No wonder it was used prior to battle.

The class was truly magical, and if you ever get a chance to attend a Cacao and Kundalini workshop, certainly go. Bliss is the best word I can describe to how you’ll feel when in the practice, and for hours afterwards. Chanting, breathwork, uniting body with mind, filling your energy and stirring your soul…what perfect ways to spend an afternoon.

All that said, I’ve had chocolate on the brain, and it’s Valentine’s Day, so why not end the day with a little chocolate. I don’t currently have cacao powder at home, so I went with cocoa powder, and of course added a bit of spice. I’m pretty anti-refined sugar and think you’ll enjoy this pudding without that sugar spike. I hope you love it!

Warrior Chocolate Pudding

Vegan, refined sugar-free, spicy chocolate pudding

Ingredients
  

Pudding

  • 3 bananas ripe
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/3 c. cocoa powder
  • 1/2 c. almond milk unsweetened
  • 3/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Toppings

  • 1/2 c. strawberries
  • 1/4 c. walnuts

Instructions
 

  • Peel the bananas and scoop out half the avocado. Add to a food processor with the cocoa powder, almond milk, vanilla, cayenne and salt. Process on high for a minute or two.
  • Slice the strawberries and chop the walnuts.
  • Scoop the pudding into bowls, top with the strawberries and walnuts, and enjoy!
