Every afternoon, after lunch, I crave chocolate. I always have. I’m quite the baker, as y’all know, and so I often have something sweet laying around the house. If not that, then I’ll turn to the always-present Central Market bulk chocolates laying around, or the So Delicious Ice Cream Sandwiches…I love chocolate snacks.
Almost 2 months ago, our entire world began working from home. I had worked from home years ago, and quite frankly, it’s my favorite place to work. While at home, I began playing around with new afternoon coffee and tea drinks.
Several months back, I went to an Ayurvedic practitioner in Dallas, which I’ve written about before. One of the things she said I needed more of is fat in my diet: almond milk, coconut oil, butter substitutes. I’m totally on board with that.
So these coffee and tea drinks, they were pretty heavy: which I’m not used to. I like my coffee black, no sugar, no milk. Just plain, black coffee.
I began trying out new recipes and making slight adjustments and then one day I landed on this concoction, which I am sharing with you today. It has a tiny bit of milk, a tiny bit of oil, and with the touch of cinnamon and vanilla, is so dang good.
Surprisingly, I don’t want chocolate when I drink this. So, I make it every afternoon. I will say it helps to work from home – this is not the easiest coffee to put together. And, it fixed my afternoon cravings!
Which leads me to: Coconut Oil Face Cream
Here’s something else: the coconut oil that I add to this drink; I always leave a tiny bit of it leftover on my spoon. I then take that oil and spread it on my face, my hands, the tops of my feet. My skin drinks it up, and even with it being oil, I don’t have more breakouts and I don’t have that oily feeling after about 20 minutes. My skin simply feels glorious.
So take the spoon, take a tiny (and I mean tiny) bit of that coconut oil, and while you’re waiting for the coffee to brew, spread it on your skin. It’s luxurious, like a mini-facial every day. Using the back of the spoon makes your skin feel cool as you’re applying the oil – win, win! No need to moisturize or use any lotion products. This works like a charm.
Enjoy!
Love, Jen
