The Top 5 Yoga Studios in Santa Fe: Body

I’m a half-time Santa Fe resident and a former yoga teacher, and today I want to present you with a list of the top 5 best yoga studios in Santa Fe. If you’re on vacation and need a quick pick-me-up, or have lived here for years and are looking for something new, I hope this list helps you find a great community and fantastic classes to enjoy.

I’m fairly convinced Santa Fe is the best city for yoga in North America. Most definitely, no questions asked, this city is in the top 10. I decided I needed to bring out my past yoga teacher life a bit on the current version of this blog, and highlight the top 5 best yoga studios in Santa Fe.

When I say top 5, there’s actually not many more than 5. This is a small town, after all. Yet it is pouring over with quality teachers. Teachers who have dedicated their lives – multiple decades of their lives – to the art of teaching yoga. To understanding the body. To knowing what move to call when. The teachers in this city will blow you away. So yes, there may only be 5 on this list, but here’s the top 5 best yoga studios in Santa Fe, and quite possibly the best in any city around.

The Top 5 Best Yoga Studios in Santa Fe.

  1. Community Yoga – It took me the longest time to finally make it to this studio, and I cannot pinpoint why. It’s become my favorite studio in Santa Fe. The teachers are vibrant, the students are on the young-ish side, the class offerings are dynamic (and thankfully not heated!!); there’s just a lot of natural energy here that you don’t find at many other studios in town. When I’m looking for a class to attend, I always start with what’s being offered at Community Yoga. They also offer donation-based classes which is really nice if you’re on a budget, and they offer outdoor and community classes as well. I cannot recommend Community Yoga enough, so they had to be at the top of my best yoga studios in Santa Fe list. If you’re only in town for a few days, you must come by and check out a class.
  2. Body – Body’s Ashtanga and Vinyasa classes (and teachers) are absolutely, out of this world, fantastic. The studio has an LA or Dallas vibe, with a ton of different styles of yoga offered: Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, and even Pilates and Nia, too, so it’s a great studio to hit up for variety of options. And a really cool part of Body is that they have a delicious vegan cafe (Nourish), a shop with clothes, candles, housewares, linens, artwork, and jewelry; a spa, and even a daycare for those toting kids around. The studio space is huge and lovely (see pic above), and the entire shop/cafe/spa/studio is truly an unbelievable offering in a city of this size. It’s a fantastic place to stop by, go for a class, and stay for a fantastic meal and really hip shopping. It’s also a perfect stop to include on a girls’ weekend to Santa Fe. You will love it!
  3. YogaSource – if you’re looking for a dynamic range of teaching styles, incredibly advanced teachers that take teaching seriously, and a variety of class styles to choose from, you have officially found your favorite studio. I have yet to attend a disappointing class here, and this is coming from a very particular yogi. The teachers are truly fantastic. The studio is sweet and in a great part of town (hit up Iconik on Lena for a great matcha or coffee and plenty of yummy sweets or a light meal after class, or if you just went to a restorative evening class, you can’t beat the patio at Midtown Bistro next door for a nice dinner afterwards).
  4. Thrive – If you’re looking for hot yoga, you found the one of the best yoga studios in Santa Fe! Thrive also has a cycling room and they have plenty of yoga classes to choose from – not all are heated, but most are. Even though hot and set/standard classes are my least fave, I enjoy this studio from time to time, and appreciate having their offerings in town. They also have earlier and later classes than most of the studios here, which is nice.
  5. Prajna – Prajna is last only because they don’t have regular classes. But if you’re looking for a workshop or retreat, and you want to go deeper in yogic wisdom, look no further than Prajna! I’ve been to two retreats at Prajna and have studied with Tias twice in other cities as well. The best part of going to Prajna is getting to study with Surya in addition to Tias: she has such a sweet demeanor, and her cooking is fantastic. The views at Prajna are also out of this world; the studio is so relaxing and peaceful. There’s no better place to meditate than on their grounds. If you can afford to spend a few days in a retreat, and you’re a serious student, you will love spending a week at Prajna.

There you have it! My list of the top 5 best studios in Santa Fe. I hope you stop by one on your next visit to town and get a feel for the vast range of offerings here. I think you’ll be happy you did!

If you’re local and want to attend a class together sometime, please hit me up! I love all things yoga and love meeting new friends.

Peace to you,
Jen
