After multiple years of visiting our favorite city and state, we finally made it our 2nd home in 2022, and I share with you today the best meals and the best vegan restaurants. Santa Fe does not disappoint with creative, healthy, intoxicating options, and it’s one of my favorite places to be, whether I’m with friends, family, or on my own. So, here you go: an overview of where to eat vegan in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Originally posted in 2019, I am now updating this Best Vegan Restaurants in Santa Fe list a few times each year. Please note that these restaurants offered vegan options the last time I was there. You will need to ask and verify for your own needs, please!

I need to start by saying that my husband and I now spend half the year, every year, in Santa Fe, so I’ve added A LOT to my original list. This means that I’m starting this list with my absolute faves, and will work my way down with great options, but ones I don’t include on my regular monthly jaunts. Also! If you’re a tourist, I’ve added a note to the ones that should be on your list. That way, the most exciting/atmospheric vegan restaurants in Santa Fe get included in your visit, as let’s be real: you’re in Santa Fe for the scenery and the escape, not just for the incredible food.

Alright, let’s get to it: The Best Vegan Restaurants Santa Fe.

Eating Vegan in Santa Fe: The Best Vegan Restaurants in Santa Fe

BEST OF THE BEST

  1. Jambo Cafe – incredible curries and absolutely delicious veggie finds. There are a handful of vegan options on this menu and every single one will blow your socks off, so Jambo most definitely has to be at the top of my best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe list. This is also just a really sweet restaurant in a really boring strip mall, on Cerillos Road. If you are venturing outside of the Plaza (AND YOU NEED TO), definitely add this place to your trip itinerary; they have a little store next door that sells African imports, too.
  2. Paper Dosa – the dosas, curries, rice, all of it is incredible, and huge…you will not leave here hungry! Much of the menu is vegan or can be made vegan, they have a pretty patio and great service. The dosas are worth the try if nothing else! And they also have house-made sodas – the ginger is great! There will be a line, a HUGE line. The good news is, Santa Feans are very friendly and you will make friends! The bad news is, parking is a BEAST here and you will wait forever for a table. We often get here right at opening time (5 p.m.) due to this, and we also often get this to-go. The food is that good. The waiting is not always fun. It’s worth the time during your time in Santa Fe to come here.
  3. Harry’s Roadhouse – my new all-time favorite restaurant: colorful, casual, away from the hustle and bustle, fantastic scenery around it, great service, and filled with locals…. Harry’s cannot be beat. We come here for their breakfast (the tofu scramble is seriously out of this world) and I have heard their veggie burger cannot be beat as well. I’ll let ya know when I try it. You will need a car or an Uber to get here. It’s worth it for tourists as you’ll get more of the “real” Santa Fe at this restaurant. Note that there’s not much else over here though aside from some gorgeous neighborhoods.
  4. Atrisco’s – Atrisco’s, and their sister restaurant Tomasita’s, are probably the two best New Mexican options for the best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe list. Their beans and rice are vegan at both locations (as of Jan 2026). And they are the best beans and best rice you could ask for. Tomasita’s is where we take friends when they visit, Atrisco’s is where we meet our local friends or just enjoy a night out on our own. Atrisco’s is my favorite restaurant and I will lose it if they ever start adding lard to their beans, ha. They are that good…. and it’s just so chill, such a fantastic place to eat. You will have a wait at both places. At Atrisco’s, it’s in the mall, and the strangest mall at that (albeit with a fab bookstore, shoe store, and flower/gift shop!), so you can walk around a bit while you’re waiting. Only problem is the mall closes reallll early, this is Santa Fe after all.
  5. Posa’s Tamale Factory and Restaurant – this is the place for your vegan tamale fix! They are delicious, and their rice, beans, (both vegetarian) and tortillas with guac might actually be what steals the show. Have you ever tasted better tortillas? I don’t think so. Enjoy! Admittedly, I’ve only gotten this via DoorDash so I can’t comment on if this restaurant is worth the drive for out-of-towners. I’ll report back at a future date.
  6. Cafecito – On my best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe list for their gorgeous patio, adorable dining room, and delicious vegan “three sisters” empanadas. They also offer a vegan sandwich, but it’s all about the empanadas here. 2026 Update: they have added a “De La Tierra” bowl to the menu and it is fantastic, filled with lentils, cauliflower, beets, squash, and kale. If you order this, I still suggest getting an empanada and chimichurri as a side (or an order to go): they are that delicious! This is my fave place to go when I need a solo date, and it’s also one of the first places I take out-of-towners. The service is good, food is great, and ambiance is excellent. They offer an assortment of coffee, tea, latte, and alcoholic beverages as well: literally anything to suit your taste buds. This is worth the very short drive away from the Plaza for Santa Fe’s prettiest patio (and quite frankly an adorable seating area inside, too).
  7. Jambo Bobcat Bite – The best patio in Santa Fe that you definitely need a car to get to, but you will not be disappointed! They have 2 vegan curries on the menu, and a vegetarian burger for any non-vegan friends, along with tons of meat options to choose from. This is one of our favorite ways to spend a Saturday afternoon. Service is slow and the place gets packed quickly, so get here close to when they open at 11. As of now, they’re only open for lunch, but hopefully that expands in the near future as I can only imagine how incredible the sunsets are from their patio! You will need a car to get here, and there’s not much else over here unless you just enjoy driving around random neighborhoods in the mountains like us!
  8. Body Cafe – I’m kinda partial here as Body is one of the best yoga studios in Santa Fe. To make it even better is their all-vegan cafe: one of the only in Santa Fe! I’ve had their black bean burger, chickpea sandwich, and matcha latte: all were fantastic. They have a full menu of appetizers, soups, main entrees, and beverages, and it’s the perfect spot to hit up after your yoga session, or just on a day off when you want to do a little shopping in their boutique as well. Body is an absolute gem for Santa Fe.
  9. Henry and the Fish – if you’re visiting Santa Fe, you’re most likely staying in the Plaza or spending at least a day in the Plaza, and one of the best places to stop in for breakfast or lunch is Henry and the Fish. They have so many healthy and vegan options to choose from that really this should be at the top of my best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe list! My faves include their lavender matcha latte, power oats, Mediterranean farro bowl with tofu, and their Buddha bowl. They also have several salads and a full drink menu. It’s at the end of a cute street with lots of good shops, too, so even though it’s at the end of the Plaza, it is definitely worth the short walk over. They have a tiny side patio and an airy dining room, and sell vegan and non-vegan snacks as well. There’s often a long line but you can do what I do and order ahead using their website, then go sit at a table to wait while everyone else is standing in line. Win win!
  10. Best Splurge: Sazon (make your reservations NOW) – Sazon is an experience like none other. The chef/owner must have the highest standards imaginable as this place is fantastic. There are SO MANY high-quality restaurants in Santa Fe, and if you can only pick one, and your budget allows, and they have an opening, go to Sazon. All the moles have chicken stock so do not eat their appetizers. However, they will make you a custom vegan entree and if it’s anything like what I had, it will absolutely blow you away. Their dining room is gorgeous: true Santa Fe luxury, and the chef runs this space like a high-level CEO. This place is in the Plaza, so walk on over, just don’t expect to get a last-minute table. You need to book reservations here weeks in advance.

RUNNERS UP

  1. Horno – oh my goodness how did I JUST find out about this place? Santa Fe is doing a vegan menu item challenge this month (Feb 2023) and this restaurant turned up on the list, and so we went, and OMG what??? How is food this good? I got the vegan dumplings and my husband got the yellowfish and we both are going back this week, reservations already made. HOLY SMOKES. Go to Horno! And side note: make reservations – it is PACKED every night of the week. Update in 2026: it’s still amazing and a really great place for tourists to go as it’s in the Plaza so most likely near your hotel. They do not change out the menus which is unfortunate but the vegan dumplings are still good. They have a vegan chocolate cake on their dessert menu, too, so it’s high up there on my best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe list.
  2. Paloma – Get the cauliflower dish, and the salsa/guac appetizer. They also have a lot of yummy non-alcoholic beverages too. If you’re into that, the grapefruit soda and the ginger soda are both delicious and made fresh in house. The dining room is gorgeous and colorful, the service is excellent, the patio is super cute. This is more Mexican than New Mexican, just a heads up, so I don’t recommend it for too many tourists, but it’s good for us locals to hit up from time to time.
  3. Cafe Pasquals – the best place for brunch and they’ll sub tofu for eggs in most dishes. Be prepared for a long wait as this is close to the Plaza, yet the food and decor is worth it! Thankfully, you can leave your number and walk around to many of the great shops within walking distance while you’re waiting, so my advice to you is to save this section of the Plaza for after you’ve left your number in case the line is long. This is a fantastic spot for tourists as it’s right in the middle of everything. 2026 update: they took the tofu scramble off the menu and now just offer tofu chorizo as a side. It’s not that great. I’m leaving Cafe Pasqual’s on the list for now b/c it’s kinda of an institution, and the dining room is gorgeous, and this is in a neat part of the plaza. Hopefully they’ll add the tofu scramble back!
  4. If you haven’t gotten enough of a coffee fix after Pasqual’s, head next door (and upstairs) to 35 Degree North, a fantastic coffee shop with really nice patio overlooking the Santa Fe Plaza (and yes, a parking lot, too, but it’s still nice).
  5. La Choza – they have a delicious vegan posole, a fairly good vegan tostada, and my husband says their fish tacos are the best he’s ever had. Great service and tons of locals; definitely worth your stop. On the days that I am drinking booze, their margaritas and their bar are fantastic to partake in. On the days that I am not, their colorful dining room is a fun and relaxing place to spend an hour. Come here right when they open or you’ll be waiting for a table. The line moves fairly fast, though, so please include La Choza on your best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe when you visit! Their bar is a fantastic place for tourists to meet some of the friendliest locals in Santa Fe.
  6. Restaurant Martin. Oh my word. Ask for the veggie plate (tell them you’re vegan!) and sit back and let your taste buds explode! Killer service, a James Beard award-winning chef, a great wine list, fantastic food – and you really get to know your servers here which I just love. What a gem of a restaurant! Also, their patio is one of my faves in town. You will not be disappointed.
  7. Sweetwater Harvest Kitchen – really cute dining room and good vegan options. I have to say this place is hit or miss for me… the food is good but not great, and the service is slow or simply downright awful (on one experience that I just cannot get over). However, the dining room is hands-down the cutest if you’re into a playful look…. I simply love it. And it’s not in the touristy areas, so a nice break from allllll the people. Whenever I had a solo trip to Santa Fe, this is one of the places I’d go, as it’s nice to just sit and be in a pretty, casual dining room. Now I only go a few times a year, and they have new owners so hopefully service will be better. I’ll report back.
  8. Joseph’s Pub – I love this homey space! They have fantastic veggie options and many of their dinner entrees can be made vegan. Joseph’s is great for a date night or special occasion. Note though that they do not have a full bar – but they do have a great wine selection. It’s a gorgeous, very New Mexican dining room, too, so I recommend this place to tourists to get a feel for more traditional Santa Fe.
  9. Modern General is great for fresh juices (and it’s cute, to boot, annnnd they have a monthly book club, swoon). They sell some goods and books, and mostly have cafe-casual foods. It’s cute though and worth a stop if you’re driving by.
  10. Vinaigrette is good for fresh salads. I will say that it’s kinda hard to find great salads in Santa Fe. That’s crazy, right?? But it seems to be true. That’s where Vinaigrette comes in. Their salads are hit or miss, so give it a few tries if you haven’t quite found one you like yet. I would not go out of my way here if I were only in town for a few days, but it’s good for locals who want to lighten things up a bit.
  11. Annapurna’s World Vegetarian Cafe – This was my go-to place every time I traveled to Albuquerque or Santa Fe solo, which was often before we got a place here. Their food is hit or miss, quite frankly more miss, but if you eat Ayurvedically it’s the best current option around. I’d only recommend it on my best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe list for those who truly need a reset day, otherwise, go elsewhere.
  12. Iconik Coffee – they have 3 locations, and all are worth visiting. The one on Lupe is attached to a coworking space, and they have Dukkah Toast and OMG I cannot list the best vegan restaurants Santa Fe without mentioning this toast. Ikonik’s location on Lena does not offer the Dukkah Toast (WHYYYYYYYYYY) but they have delicious bowls and they will make them all vegan. This location is actually cuter because it’s near a pottery studio, a meditation studio, a vegan bakery, a vegetarian cafe, a bread bakery, and more. There’s a super pretty garden that you walk through to get to the front. It’s just lovely, in a really cool area. And there’s now a third Ikonik on Cerillos, with tons of options for sitting, lots of good people watching, the same yummy bowls as Lena, and a nice view of the mountains.
  13. All three are great for a stop while you’re in town, but if you’re looking only for coffee, you have to just go to Java Joe’s. They have the best coffee and matchas in town, and three different and delciious chai lattes to choose from. I’m partial to their Siler location, but Rodeo has a drive-through if you need a quick fix.
  14. Rowley Farmhouse Ales – this amazing brewery has a great outdoor patio (pup friendly) and a delicious vegan burger – along with great beer! I love coming here and relaxing and meeting a few locals. If you love breweries, don’t pass this place up!
  15. Teahouse – at the end of Canyon Road sits a lovely teahouse and restaurant serving fresh and delicious vegetarian and vegan soups, salads, lentil dishes, appetizers, and so much more. I’ve been here a handful of times over the years and have never been disappointed! Sitting outside is lovely, sitting inside gets you a view of the intimate little rooms. There’s often a wait, so come early, and just like everywhere in Santa Fe, don’t be in a rush. Canyon Road is not to be missed if you even remotely like looking at art, and the Teahouse is the best place to sit down and enjoy great food on your journey. PLEASE NOTE they have new owners and I have not yet been, but have heard good things.
  16. Kakawa is delicious for chocolates and elixirs. Definitely go here, enjoy chocolate concoctions in their colorful pottery, and just try to not take some home with you. This place will not come up in many “best vegan restaurants Santa Fe” searches, but many of their chocolates are vegan! Just ask!! It’s just a few blocks from Canyon Road, so if you’re a big-time walker, continue on; if you’re not, grab your car and stop here for a quick fix.

And finally, The Farmer’s Market! One of the yummiest ways to spend your Saturday morning is to meet the famers, bakers, and coffee roasters selling their goods in the Railyards. And artists will be present, too! You might even hear the assortment of marimba players at the edge of the market which is SUCH a fun thing to see and hear. This is the best of the best in my best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe list due to assortment of incredible vegan pastries, veggies, beans, chiles, roasted nuts, coffees, and so much more.
Please note: dogs are not allowed at the market! Don’t make this mistake like I have. 🙂 This is probably the best thing you can do in Santa Fe. Our farmers – and artisans – market is quite possibly the best in the country.

After the Farmer’s Market, if you haven’t gotten your coffee fix by now, head next door to Sky Coffee Co. for an incredible assortment of coffee and non-caff drinks (I especially love their Golden Milk Latte!). It will be crowded, and it moves fairly fast, and it’s worth it.

Note: for lunch and dinner, I would avoid Bumble Bees and Tune-Up. I wasn’t taken away by either of them, and there’s too many other places to try. They come up often in “best vegan restaurants in Santa Fe” searches in this city so I am mentioning for those who resort to Google. Also, Thai Vegan closed – waaah – but their ABQ location looks like it is still open.

P.S. – I’ll keep this Best Vegan Restaurants in Santa Fe list updated at least once a year. 🙂

Enjoy! And let me know what you think!

Love, Jen.
